Animal Care

  • Feeding and watering animals according to the policies, procedures, and feeding schedule

  • Cleaning of all dishes, buckets, etc. used for the animals

  • Monitor animals to make sure they are eating and drinking properly

  • Mucking out stalls- cleaning out all soiled bedding ( adding in fresh straw and bedding)

  • Mucking their houses - cleaning out all soiled bedding ( adding in fresh straw and bedding)

  • Sweeping barn

  • Picking up poop around the yard

  • Giving the animals love and attention! Provide enrichment.

  • Helping with improvements/changes to facilities and/or barn as needed in collaboration with the owners

  • Help us ensure all staff/volunteers conduct activities in the safest way possible to insure their health and safety and that of the animals

  • We work in all weather, a love of the outdoors is an asset!
  • Shifts are either 9 am to 12 pm or 3 pm to 6 pm.

Reporting to the Director of Medicine and Hospital Registered Veterinary Technician, the Hospital Assistant Volunteer will be responsible for maintaining the Operating Room and prep area, as well as overseeing the maintenance and packing of surgical instruments.

  Roles and Responsibilities

  • Wash / sterilize surgical instruments (by hand and / or using the autoclave)
  • Make up surgical packs in line with the next day’s surgeries
  • Maintain an orderly Surgical Room and Prep Room
    • Disinfect / sterilize surgical equipment
    • Store surgical equipment and instruments appropriately
    • Clean and disinfect cages, surfaces, counter tops and surrounding areas
    • Clean floors
    • Dispose of garbage and recyclables
    • Perform washing up and laundry tasks (washing, drying and folding linens)
  • Assist Hospital staff as required
  • Follow appropriate protocol, legislation and regulations

  Working Conditions: 

  • Physical demands of the position include bending, some kneeling, and working with surgical grade cleaning products
  • Training will be provided

To Volunteer to Instruct or Assist athletes with varying disabilities to ski, Cross Country Ski, Snowboard or hike. No special certification is required. Track3 provides training for all instructors. You must be able to communicate effectively, the ability to ski or snowboard in control and have patience and understanding of our athletes' needs. The minimum age for instructors is 17, the minimum age for assistants is 14.

  • Attending activities, programs, and/or events with residents
  • One-on-one visits with residents; spending time chatting, playing card games, doing puzzles, crafts

A S2F Virtual Coach has a significant role to encourage children on a weekly basis for positive change physically, mentally and emotionally through fitness and literacy. Coaches help to build confidence and motivation within children, while reducing learning gaps and developing a
lifelong love of learning.

Our Brainworx! is an online afterschool program for students in grades 1-6 and runs twice a week between Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, for 30-40 minutes each session.  We focus on physical activity, literacy, and social-emotional development.  Each group has 10-12 students and 3-4 coaches.  Our Brainworx program has various start times between 3:30pm - 6:30pm EST.  

The Junior Coach Leadership Program is an online after-school program for students in grades 7 and 8. It runs on Mondays after-school for 1 hour and focuses on developing students’ leadership skills, while still incorporating physical activity and literacy.  Start times are between 4:30 and 6:30pm EST (4:30pm MST).

Details:

  • Oct to May (fall and winter term only available)
  • Flexible timing, between 3:30-6:30pm EST
  • 10-12 participants and 2-3 volunteer coaches per group
  • Sessions include fitness, literacy & mentoring activities, with emphasis on building character strengths
